ATU, Inc. - OUR PHILOSOPHY...
ATU's UNIQUE APPROACH TO
TEACHING
OUR
ADVANCED INSTRUCTORS
SEEK TO STRENGTHEN YOUR
KNOWLEDGE AND BROADEN YOU THINKING SKILLS
AS A PILOT.
-
Your
career success depends upon your performance in
the classroom as well as the aircraft.
-
Every
effort is made to insure that your flight
instruction reflects the content and character
of your classroom experience.
THE
FOLLOWING GENERAL PRINCIPLES FORM THE FOUNDATION OF
OUR UNIQUE APPROACH TO TEACHING.
Principle 1 -- Learning To Fly Requires Knowledge &
Understanding!
We find that a thorough
knowledge and understanding of basic aerodynamic
principles enable you to act safely in all flight
situations.
Knowledgeable pilots
show superior flexibility in the cockpit and possess
a much greater awareness of the flight environment.
Principle 2
-- Knowledge & Understanding Insure Effective
Action!
ATU provides a uniform
approach to flight instruction. This approach
emphasizes
a thorough grasp of both aeronautical knowledge and
flight principles.
Understanding and
practicing these fundamentals serve to insure your
capabilities as a professional pilot.
Principle 3
-- Meaningful Practice Takes Place On The Ground!
The effectiveness of
ground-based practice is seen in the flight training
portion of your
program.
Understanding the
principles involved in a given maneuver enable you
to preview in advance the sights and sounds to be
found in the training experience.
As a result of learning
this understanding prior to flight your mastery of
the actual maneuver is dramatically facilitated!
Principle 4
-- Flight Principles Are Similar For All Ratings!
A thorough foundation in
aerodynamic principles is your key to becoming a
safe pilot.
All Ratings are based on
this foundation of knowledge. ATU underscores
the importance of mastering these elements early in
your training program.
To save you additional
time and money we encourage you to consider pursuing
multiple ratings simultaneously!
Principle 5
-- Educated Pilots Are More Flexible Than Trained
Pilots!
An educated pilot uses
his or her flight knowledge in a safe and efficient
manner.
Such pilots exhibit the flexibility necessary to
exercise command in all flight situations.
At ATU our goal is to
teach you how to think like a pilot rather than
simply how to act like
one! We regard flight safety as a consciously
learned attitude rather than a set of
specific behaviors.
Principle
6 -- Correct Learning Is Less Costly Than
Relearning!
The longer it takes to
master a flight training task the more difficult it
is to maintain
your motivation. At ATU our goal is to minimize your
time and maximize your achievement.
We consider learning a
task correctly (the first time) to be more
beneficial to your progress
than having to "unlearn" or "relearn" the same task
at a later date.
Principle
7 -- Flight Success Always Strengthens Your Self
Image!
No activity has been found to have a more
positive effect on your self image than learning
to fly. Your sense of self-mastery tends to increase
in direct proportion to your flight
training success.
At ATU, we will
help you become a competent pilot...giving you the
confidence and knowledge to pilot your own aircraft
(or to enter into a career path and make aviation
your new career).
