ATU, Inc. - PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING...
RE:
SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
September 11th
brought major changes to flight training business in
the United States. Since that date most flight
schools, fixed-based operators, and flight
instructors have experienced significant declines in
student enrollment and income. In Florida alone over
600 flight schools have closed their doors
permanently! To help YOU improve your present
situation we offer you a number of exciting programs
and ideas to put your flight training business back
in the black.
-
Without a
growing business your flight school is stressed
to pay its operating costs.
-
Without a
thriving student population it's impossible to
keep flight instructors on staff to render
quality service.
-
Without
good flight instructors students are more prone
to drop out of your training programs.
The
result is a threat to your flight training
business.
FIXED-BASED OPERATORS & STRUGGLING FLIGHT SCHOOLS
For the past six years ATU
has surveyed hundreds of flight training businesses
throughout the United States. The majority report a
need for more students and flight hours flown.
Without these resources they are finding it
impossible to pay their flight instructors a livable
wage:
The months from September
through early April appear to be low points in their
business activities. Student prospects and
instructional hours are half that of their spring
and summer totals. Their business income is thus
dramatically reduced. Many have expressed a desire
to "throw in the towel" with respect to flight
instruction and pilot training.
Most fixed-based operators
and small flight schools tend to think of flight
training in pretty much the same way. But spending
money on expensive aircraft and location doesn't
automatically bring in business. Most urban airports
have several flight training facilities on the
field.
The real customer's
concern is the uniqueness and cost-effectiveness
of your programs, not just your airplane rates. To
attract the commercial pilot prospect you're going
to have to offer more than a four or five-dollar
break in rental fees. You will need to provide a
full education and flight training program with
several monetary incentives built in.
Expecting a student to borrow a small fortune just
to fly airplanes is not realistic in today's
economy. To succeed in your aviation training
business you will need practical and proven methods
to revitalize your current situation.

The following is a
testimonial to the effectiveness of our consulting
work:
"I would like to
take couple of minutes to thank you and your
organization for the help and assistance that
you have given my flight school here in
Washington State.
"We are in the
infancy stage of reevaluating many of our
programs and services . . . Since we have begun
paralleling your model we have come from a less
than 30% closure rate to 80% in a little over 30
days! Of the 80% that have come on board, 75%
have opted to enroll in our professional pilot
program and 25% in our private pilot /
instrument rating course. . . I can't thank you
and your staff enough for helping us restructure
our entire approach to flight education and
training. The time you've spent explaining
everything in understandable detail has enabled
us to incorporate this new process in an
extremely easy fashion."
